JioStar, a partnership between Viacom18 and Star India, has officially launched JioHotstar, a brand-new streaming platform that combines content from both services into a single destination.
This new platform supports 10 languages and curates a vast collection of content from major international studios and streaming services, including NBC Universal Peacock, Warner Bros, Discovery, HBO, and Paramount.
Sports fans won’t miss out either—JioHotstar continues to offer IPL, ICC tournaments, and English Premier League football, ensuring all major sporting events are available in one place.
JioHotstar follows a familiar strategy with multiple ad-supported free tiers, allowing users to stream content without a subscription. Similar to Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema, all plans provide access to the full content library, including live sports, blockbuster movies, and exclusive originals. However, for those seeking higher resolution streaming, here’s a breakdown of JioHotstar’s paid plans.
JioHotstar continues the trend of offering an ad-supported free tier that allows users to access content without paying, similar to what Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema did previously. The platform ensures that all its paid plans provide full access to live sports, blockbuster movies, and original content. However, if you're looking for higher-quality streaming, here’s a breakdown of the available plans:
The most affordable option is the JioHotstar Mobile Plan, which costs ₹149 for 3 months. This plan allows users to stream content in HD (720p) resolution on a single mobile device. If you're looking for a better deal, the ₹499 annual plan offers the same benefits for a full year.
Want to watch on a bigger screen? The Super Plan is a budget-friendly choice, offering Full HD (1080p) resolution with Dolby Atmos support. This plan lets you stream on two devices at once and is priced at ₹299 for 3 months or ₹899 annually
For those who want the best viewing experience, the Premium Plan offers 4K streaming and supports up to four devices simultaneously. While this plan is ad-free, live events such as sports may still include some advertisements.
If you’re currently subscribed to JioCinema or Disney+ Hotstar, your plan will remain active until your next billing cycle. Once your existing subscription expires, you’ll need to choose from one of the available JioHotstar plans.
The platform features content in 10 languages and brings together shows and movies from major international studios, including NBC Universal Peacock, Warner Bros, Discovery, HBO, and Paramount.
Just like before, sports enthusiasts can catch IPL, ICC tournaments, and English Premier League football on a single app.
